Larry Katz
Larry Katz lives in Ottawa and collects, dries and turns a variety of domestic woods, using primarily downed trees from Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec. Artistically integrating form and function, he produces mainly bowls, platters and earring stands with flowing curves that feel good, are pleasing to the eye, express his reverence for nature, and expose the history and grain patterns of trees.
Following his retirement as national research director of the Canadian Union of Public Employees, Larry has been turning full-time for four years and is an active member of the Ottawa Valley Woodturners' Club, where he has demonstrated and taught. Larry has won a number of ribbons at the annual competitions at the Ottawa Wood Show and regularly shows his work at craft and artisan fairs.
